Liquid Ring Compressors

In a liquid ring compressor, the casing is partially filled with sealing liquid. As the impeller rotates, the liquid is centrifuged outward to form a stable liquid ring along the casing wall. Because the impeller is mounted eccentrically, variable compression chambers are created between its blades. Process gas enters through the conical distributor with two suction and two discharge ports. During each revolution, gas is drawn into the suction chambers, compressed as the chamber volume decreases, and then discharged through the outlet ports. This cycle occurs twice per revolution, providing continuous compression.
